General Description

Griseofulvin is an anti-fungal drug given to pets with fungal infections of the skin and hair coat. Most commonly, it is prescribed to pets with ringworm (which is actually a fungus, not a worm!). Sometimes, ringworm can be treated with a toppical medication, but often an oral tablet is the best way to get rid of the fungus.

Do not give this drug to a pet with an empty stomach. Complete giving the full prescription of medication, even if signs of ringworm are no longer present.

How It Works

Griseofulvin halts the growth of ringworm by blocking cell division. This allows your pet’s immune system to catch up with the fungus and get rid of it.

Storage Information

Store in a tightly sealed container at room temperature.

Missed Dose?

Give the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose, and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give your pet two doses at once.

Griseofulvin may result in these side effects:

Griseofulvin may react with these drugs:

• Phenobarbital
• Wafarin

DO NOT ADMINISTER THIS DRUG TO PETS WITH LIVER DISEASE OR TO CATS WITH FELINE IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS
